- For Bati-
- 2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup suji (semolina flour)
- 1/4 cup ghee
- as per taste Salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp ajwain seeds
- Pinch turmeric powder
- 2 tsp sugar powder
- 3/4 cup water
- 4-5 tsp ghee
Steps to make to make Dal Bati in OTG
- Soak all the dals in water for 1/2 an hour. After that add salt, oil, turmeric powder, tej patta and cook for 2 whistles.
- Mix whole wheat flour, suji, salt, ajwain seeds, ghee, turmeric powder, baking soda and sugar powder. By adding water make a tight dough. Don't knead it too much. Rest for 10 min. After 10 min add 2 to 3 tsp of water and knead for 5 to 7 minute. Make a ball and seal all the cracks properly to make a smooth ball. From this mixture, we can make 8 batis. Now grease the bati with ghee. Place them into the oven plate. Preheat the oven at 250° for 10 min. Now bake the batis in oven at 250° for 15 mins
- First boil the dal. Stir lightly. Switch off the flame after 4 to 5 minutes.
- Now for tadka heat oil in pan. Add cumin seeds. Then add garlic, ginger and green chilli. Saute it. Add tomatoes, chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and crushed cloves-black pepper. When it releases oil add the tadka in dal. Don't boil the dal after tadka. Add coriander. Cover it. Now for the next tadka heat the ghee (in same first tadka pan) and add hing and dry red chilli. Add this tadka on dal. Dal is ready. If you want, add 1 tsp lemon juice.
- Serve the bati with dal, curma ladoo, onion, green chilli and garlic chutney.
